And it looks like “Home Improvement” may be next on the list, as Buzz Lightyear actor Tim Allen recently spoke to TVLine and mentioned returning as Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor.
“I like the idea of doing it all at once, like a one-hour movie [versus a full revival series]. I like the idea of knowing where the boys are now, and where… Tool’s time would be in today’s world. I think it’s a great idea, and the actors they all think it’s a good idea.”
A Home Improvement movie or special would be perfect on Disney+ and it would be fun to see how they could update “Tool Time”, like a streaming show or even a YouTube channel.
“I always think about it, because I still talk to everyone involved. The question I had was, ‘Is it still relevant? Does Tim Taylor belong in Mike Baxter’s world?’ Because Mike Baxter is like the real version of Tim Taylor ; he’s not that funny. And the [Outer Man] blogs are like Mike’s version of Tool Time done as a web series.

And by working on the series, Last Man Standing for Fox, he would be prevented from returning for a full series, but since most seasons no longer last 22 episodes, a shorter run might be easier for him to fit. But it will also depend on the other parties involved,
Home Improvement ran for 204 episodes over 8 seasons on ABC, from September 1991 to May 1999. The series is currently only available on Direct TV in the US, so hopefully it will be added to Disney+ or Hulu when that deal expires.

We have officially “cut the cord” in our household and now rely solely on streaming services for entertainment. Why? Because, honestly, the only shows I want to watch are on those services or are oldies from the ’90s. (Hello, “Friends”!)

One show from childhood I’ve been wanting to watch and haven’t been able to find, however, is the classic sitcom “Home Improvement.” Was it a strong family, a neighbor who likes to hide behind the fence (but is full of wisdom), or the fact that Tim “The Toolman” Taylor hosts a home improvement show while not what you might call “tooliest” taught me I can do anything I set my mind to? Maybe all three.
Apparently, I’m not alone in my quest, because just in time for the real home improvement season, Hulu is giving us all eight seasons (204 episodes!) of the beloved sitcom! As Tim Taylor would say: UUUEEGGHH?!?!
Originally running from 1991-1999 on ABC, “Home Improvement” became America’s top-rated sitcom multiple times during that decade. It won and was nominated for numerous awards, including Golden Globes, Emmys and Kid’s Choice Awards. Even 10 years after it premiered, the cast reunited to receive a fan favorite award at the Television Land Awards in 2009.
Cast members, including Tim Allen, Patricia Richardson, Richard Karn and Zachery Ty Bryan, were on hand to receive the honor.
