The key to this project was to create the kitchen equipment of the residence with a strong industrial aesthetic. The PB Kitchen Design team managed to retain the warmth and organic feel of the home’s architecture. The solid materials used to enrich the integrity of the design never detract from the fact that this space is dedicated to hospitality. Functionally, the kitchen works equally well for quick family meals or large gatherings. But take a closer look at the use of texture and height. Home Bar Flooring
When my client had to move from the corporate office to work at home, she settled in the dining room. Despite her efforts, it wasn’t the long-term solution she was looking for. My client realized they needed a dedicated space not on the main floor of the home. On the one hand, it is convenient to have your office space right next to the kitchen. On the other hand, separating work and home life was not so simple. The house was a ranch. Basically, the basement would run the entire length of the home. Descending the stairs, we entered a time capsule. The house was built in the 1950s. The walls were covered with original knotty pine paneling. There was a wood-burning fireplace and, given that it was a basement, high ceilings. Plus, everything her family couldn’t store at home was there. As we browsed the space, I thought, “Wow, this has potential”. Finally, after walking through the laundry room, we came to a small, nicely lit room. That would be the office. The customer looked at me and asked what I was thinking. I said this could definitely be a great workspace, but do you really want to walk through that basement and laundry room to get here? My client said without hesitation, where do we start? Once the design was ready, we started the renovation. The knotty pine paneling had to go. Specifically, adding some insulation and controlling moisture and humidity. The laundry room wall was moved to create a hallway to the office. At the far end of the room, we designated an exercise area. Weights, mats, exercise bike and television are ready for your morning or afternoon workout. You can hide the space with a folding party screen. The doors of the old under-stairs closet were moved to the exercise room for hidden storage. Now we had a nice wall for a beautiful console and a mirror for storage and serving during parties. To add some architectural detail, we covered the old ugly support posts with simple chipboard recesses. This detail created a visual division between the bar counter and the seating area in front of the fireplace. We replaced the old red brick on the edge of the fireplace with stone. The mantle was made from reclaimed wood. Additional floating reclaimed wood shelves to the left and right of the fireplace provide a decorative display while maintaining a rustic element that balances the copper end table and leather swivel swing. We found a beautiful rug that brought all the colors together and defined the gathering space even more. Red and burnt orange became the accent color that unites every room. With a bit of whimsy, a rather unusual lamp that looks like tree roots growing through the ceiling is a conversation piece. The office space is quiet and away from the main part of the cellar. There is a desk large enough for multiple screens, a small bookcase with office supplies, and a comfortable chair for conference calls. Since working from home requires a lot of online meetings, we added a wall painted in Hale Navy to contrast with the orange fabric on the chair. We finished the decor with a picture of my client’s father. This is the background that web visitors will see. The last and best part of the renovation is the beautiful bar. My client is an avid wine collector. She already had a EuroCave fridge, so I incorporated it into the design. The cabinets are painted Temptation Gray from Benjamin Moore. The countertops are my favorite hard-wearing Brown Fantasy quartzite. The backsplash is a combination of rustic wood and old tin ceiling like porcelain tiles. Together with the texture of reclaimed wood and leather, balanced by the smooth finish of the cabinets, we have created a comfortable luxury for relaxation. There is plenty of storage space for bottles, cans, glasses and anything you can think of for a great party. In addition to the wine cellar, we also installed a drinks fridge, ice maker and sink. Floating shelves with integrated lighting illuminate the rear bar. The raised height of the front bar provides the perfect vantage point for wine tasting. I especially like the pendant lights that look like wine glasses. Finally, I chose a carpet for the stairs and the office. It is perfect for noise reduction. Meanwhile, I specifically chose high-performance vinyl plank flooring for the entire flooring. We use this product a lot as it is perfect for installing on concrete floors. It is soft to walk on, easy to clean and does not reduce the overall height of the room.
How To Create A Home Bar To Survive A Pandemic
Transformed an empty, unused formal living room into a trendy bourbon bar and library for a couple who moved to DFW from Louisville, KY. They wanted a place where they could host friends or just hang out and relax with a cocktail or a good book. On the opposite wall in the living room is a wet bar that includes two full-sized wine coolers, a sink, storage cabinets and shelving, and plenty of open floor space for entertaining. A tall dark blue painted cabinet helps to visually balance the space as a large, bold design element opposite the fireplace wall. Inlaid brass details on the cabinet doors add a touch of glamor to this more formal space. The focal point of the wet bar is an illuminated marble backsplash to match the books, with floating custom brass and glass shelves.
