Home Depot Laminate Flooring Installation Reviews
Home Depot Laminate Flooring Installation Reviews – One of the most common questions I get on Instagram is about our hardwood floors from Home Depot. Where did we get it? How is it holding up? Do I like it? I’ve tried to answer these questions as often as possible in the stories, but I thought it would be helpful to put all of this information in one place for everyone to refer to in the future. So here’s a full review of our hardwood floors from Home Depot!
I knew right away that we wanted to change the flooring to something more our own and more durable. I really wanted a light oak hardwood floor, so I began the difficult task of visiting every flooring store within a 45 mile radius. I have so many samples but nothing fits the bill. Then on a whim I decided to check out the flooring at Home Depot. Much to my surprise, they had exactly what I wanted: light oak, solid hardwood, distressed texture, with a matte finish. It’s called Malibu Wide Plank French Oak Point Reyes Solid Hardwood Floor.

After removing the carpet and laminate, we hired a contractor to install wood floors from Home Depot. We ordered everything online and it took about 2 weeks to ship. But since this flooring comes with a pre-finished finish, there was no staining or sanding involved. So the installation process took about 3 days in total and we were able to move right away.

We have been living with this floor for six months now and I can honestly say that I LOVE it. I am very happy with it and am very thankful that we decided to install it right away before we even moved. It was incredible and it really is my dream floor. So far there have been no problems with scratching. No dents. nothing. And that’s saying a lot because I move furniture all the time. In addition, we have three children. But this material is very durable. It’s been given seven coats of an ultra-low gloss aluminum oxide urethane finish, so these floors are made to LONG.
When we were removing the old floors, we had to decide if we wanted to remove the baseboards. This is usually done when installing a new floor, but it will cost us a lot of extra money and time. So we installed this floor
Plinth in place. The floor went up to the baseboard, then we used a quarter circle to finish it off and close all the gaps. Such a great trick to save money and time installing new baseboards!
Yes, 1000%. We love them and they are exactly the color and texture I wanted for our home.

I actually saw this review before we purchased the floor, but mine is not the same at all. I think the knots are very authentic and I love how they add dimension to the floor.
We installed this floor in our electric bathroom and so far it’s working great! NO problems at all.
Compared to all the samples I got from flooring stores, these floors were the most affordable option we found. I was honestly surprised at the price, as many of the similar ones we found were double (
I use a cordless vacuum for dust and crumbs. Then we clean the floor with Bona wood floor cleaner and this wood floor mop.

Not at all. I’ve even dropped some super heavy stuff on the floor with no damage. Honestly, I’m amazed at the longevity of this floor!
Well, I hope this is helpful when you are shopping for new hardwood floors. If you still have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. I’m happy to help! xoEkkkkk…don’t look now! Just kidding, don’t stop looking because I’m partnering with The Home Depot to bring you an incredible transformation… Are you ready for it?
Who’s ready to see the impact new floors can bring to a space? I know that I am! When The Home Depot approached them about doing a flooring campaign with them, I was beyond excited! I was debating between the two options. Do we do a light transformation of one room or do we go BIG and redo ALL floors. Hmm… if you don’t already know, you definitely should. I will always choose LARGE. So guess what… I’m redoing all the floors in my house MYSELF!
Okay, the flooring options at The Home Depot were truly endless. Choosing a floor is no easy task and it can be so overwhelming! Here’s how I narrowed down my choices. Since I was DIYing this floor myself, I really wanted something that was easy to install. Their LifeProof Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring was a great option. First, it can be installed over most existing floors. Yasssss! It has a Drop-and-Lock installation system, if you’ve never done flooring before, it’s super easy. It’s basically snap and click. In addition, it has a pre-attached backing. It’s literally one less big step. With three kids, a dog, and one very large child aka my husband, I needed them to be waterproof and scratch resistant.
Best Laminate Flooring: How To Choose
The choice of color and pattern is also limitless. I currently had two different types and colors of flooring. It’s one of my least favorite things in my house. The transition between two floors has always made my house feel disjointed. From side to side it literally looked like two different houses.
After seeing both of these colors in my home, I knew I wanted something lighter to really brighten up the space. Also, something more modern with wider boards. In the end I chose LifeProof Luxurious Pine Wood. It’s a big selection, so I suggest you buy some samples, maybe even buy a box and lay it out. Things always look different in your own space. Lighting, wall color…everything in your home can change the look of something.
Don’t be afraid to move them around your home to get a really good idea of how it will look.
Here’s what you need to get started. Technically, all you really need is a construction knife, a tape measure, a speed angle, and an installation kit with a pull bar, cutting block, and spacers. This isn’t my first rodeo…so here are a few more things to make your life a little easier. Get some knee pads ASAP…lol! A jigsaw is also great for intricate cuts.

For this setup I also went with the big guns and got a 13″ multi-deck router. Kind of the best purchase I’ve made in a long time. It was a serious game changer. I’ve heard so many mixed reviews about it. Everyone said it doesn’t make clean cuts or cut through the rubber backing. So let me quickly set the record straight! This die was so clean, was so easy to use, went through every board and had no dust at all! IF you add a ton of flooring, it was worth the investment.
You want your first boards to start in the far left corner. It is best to start with the longest wall. I laid out all of mine dry first, mixing the boards and the pattern. When I had as many rows as I wanted, I started with the first row. The slot should always be away from the wall. I actually started in the wrong direction. The boards were hard and tight to get into. Each of them was difficult. If you’re struggling with boards, chances are you’re doing something wrong. Take a step back and think about what you might be doing wrong. It only took me a few boards before I realized I was doing something wrong. They should go together so easily.
I started with three rows of one board of different lengths. Longest to shortest to start and I was working my way from the front row. When I had two or three rows, I stacked a bunch of boxes on top of them to keep them from moving. This is a floating floor and you want everything to stay level. This is the hardest part in the beginning because you don’t have enough weight to hold the boards in place. Once I’m in
the third row it’s usually smooth sailing and you really get into a rhythm. You want to make sure the boards are staggered at least 8 inches apart. When I finished one row, I used the remaining piece to start the next row.
To make sure you get a real professional look, be sure to cut under all door jambs and moldings. I did this with a dovetail saw and multi tool. I flipped one of the floorboards upside down and pressed against the trim and used my dovetail saw to get a nice clean cut line. I then used my multi tool to go all the way around. You can obviously use
