Best Professional Recording Studio Equipment – When building a digital home recording studio your computer is the first piece – the platform from which everything else will connect and work. The most important thing is running; quickly manage large projects; speed of use of software and audio interface; the speed to ensure that you are not worried about lag or waiting on your computer to catch up between recordings.
If you are looking to invest in your computer home recording studio here is what you need to know.

A larger desktop computer can allow for greater processing power, which means you’re getting faster speeds and increased storage. Desktop computers usually have a place for more inputs and outputs than laptops, which allows them to be more complex without having to do additional hubs or external ports, while an additional room also opens the door to important adjustments when it comes to RAM, hard drives and video cards. .

Your audio interface is the connecting piece of equipment that bridges the gap between audio production gear and recording, editing and mixing software. As a transport box it is where you put the microphone, speakers and headphones.
The number of preamps dictates the number of microphones you can record with at once. For vocals there is a chance that you only need one preamp. To record drums or multiple instruments at the same time probably four preamps will be necessary.
Whether it’s XLR, 1/4” or RCA, it’s important to make sure your monitor and speaker outputs match.
This is necessary to connect headphones to your audio interface, and it allows you to listen to the best information while recording.
Best Daws 2023
If your home recording studio is in its infancy with one or two mics it should cover all bases. Choosing the right mic for you comes down to the instrument you plan to record.
Generally speaking, condenser mics are best suited for high frequency instruments such as acoustic guitars, cymbals and pianos. While mics work well with high frequency instruments such as drums and electric guitar.
When looking for flexibility and quality in a large-diaphragm board, a cardioid condenser mic is your best bet. It’s ability to pick up low frequencies, focusing only on the sound in front of it, and its ability to pick up high frequencies makes it all-rounder.
For electric guitar, however, the best mic to start with is the Shure SM57, which has a good reputation for recording guitar amps.
Essentials For Setting Up Your Home Studio
Studio monitors should play back and mix your recordings. These are designed for listening to recorded music, with a smooth response that doesn’t over-amplify and increase the dynamics of your track – an important factor when you’re trying to make informed decisions about your mix.
While you can use headphones for this category for home recording, studio speakers provide a better sonic perspective for mixing your music.
Active studio monitors have in-built speakers, while passive studio monitors require a separate power amp to operate. When it comes to starting your home recording studio, the less equipment the better.
Near-field studio monitors are suitable for covering rooms, such as a home studio. Mid-field and far-field monitors, on the other hand, are built to be a greater distance from your ears, and therefore require more space to operate.

Along with your studio monitors, headphones are the way to listen back and work on your recordings. And in the neighborhood of the home studio, give the opportunity to work at all hours of the day and night, without causing a neighbor-annoying racket.
Closed-back headphones provide enhanced isolation while sacrificing some sound quality – perfect for tracking. The opposite goes for open-back headphones, which offer increased sound quality and less isolation.
It’s a luxury worth having both, but if you can only choose one, the isolation that comes with two closed-back headphones is the way to go.
The digital audio workstation is the software that brings your home recording studio to life. The all-in-one tool will allow you to record, play back, mix and master your recordings all the way to completion.

How Much Does A Music Studio Cost To Use?
It all started with my obsession with all things Mac and my music degree. I chose high-core to count Xeon MacPros because my three main applications (Digital Performer 9, Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 and Kontakt 5), take full advantage of the expansion and the requirements put on computers in MIDI orchestration film scoring rigs, each CPU core. and the number of threads required, as is the maximum memory required (48GBs to 64GBs per machine is usually my minimum requirement and the requirement is increasing).
What programs do you use most often? What programs can’t you do without? Do you have a favorite app for Mac or iOS?
For OS X, my favorite app is Digital Performer. I couldn’t live without Terminal and Activity Monitor. But I also really like Vienna Ensemble Pro, MIR, Kontakt, DSP-Quatro, iZotope RX Advanced, Sibelius, Screenflow, FCPX, Motion and an obscene amount of instruments, sample libraries and plugins.
For iOS, my favorite app is GuitarToolKit becau
se of its flawless features, but I also use many apps in my daily commute including AmpKit, DP Control, V-Control, Garageband, Alchemy, iProphet, iRealPro, ProCam 2 and XL, Pages, Numbers, Evernote , Fing, and Youtube Studio.

All Mac users should spend time familiarizing themselves with using Gestures, multiple desktop locations, and keyboard shortcuts, and Terminal and Activity Monitor (keep Terminal and Activity Monitor open at all times in a separate desktop area and then use the control key-right arrow or left arrow key, or use the shortcut swipe gesture on the Magic Track Pad or Magic Mouse to easily view the desktop). iMac, MacPro and Mac Mini users should have the Magic Trackpad and if it doesn’t interfere with their Magic Mouse gesture-only functionality (beware of latency with the Magic Mouse under heavy OS X loads).
For users with very large files, or a group of files that come close to filling the RAM (this happens to me with my orchestral template even though I have 64GBs of RAM), do not hesitate to use the Terminal command “sudo purge”, to delete the memory cache and protect the OS from moving compressed data to disc. Although OS X does a good job of managing memory on its own, users who push over 80% of physical memory regularly with just one or two apps should get into the habit.
