Flooring For Bathroom Home Depot – Renovating our 100 year old house in Waco, Tx. and our latest project is bathroom renovation. My goal is to find a beautiful floor tile that looks like marble but still wears (since the home is a short lease). I found this amazing Carrara 12 in. x 24 in. Polished Porcelain Floor and Wall Tile at The HomeDepot and it’s affordable too! In fact, I liked it so much that we used it in the shower.
There was only one bathroom in the home when we bought it, and this is what it looked like. There were holes in the walls and floor, and broken pipes everywhere. It could not be used. It was so bad that I didn’t want to go in the bathroom.

We tore out several walls in the house, replaced windows and built a two-room bathroom. The front room (below left) has a vanity and sink, and another vanity area. The bathroom and toilet are in the back room (on the right). At first, we thought of tiling the entire bathroom but we found that the wood floors in the front room looked great.
Vinyl Flooring Pros And Cons Worth Considering
I went to our local Home Depot and found the Carrara 12 in. x 24 in. Polished Porcelain Floor and Wall Tile. You can see the price listed, which is amazing for a two-foot piece of tile! Porcelain tile is beautiful and will wear well in our short term rentals.
Next, I had to decide how to lay the tile. I went back to California and my contractor sent me these photos with horizontal and vertical orientation.
Choosing the tile for the bathroom was so easy when I decided to use the same tile!
I love this horizontal layout in the bathroom and it saved me a lot of money on installation since the tiles were so large.
Best Flooring For Bathrooms
Since the Waco fixer upper house doesn’t have a shower, I built this as a shower/bath. There is a small 8” high wall in front of the walk-in shower. It is easy to walk in and provides a shallow bath to bathe an infant or pet. The bathroom has a shower head and bathtub. I built this a few years ago for our home in Ventura, California, and we love it. So, I did it again!
The Home Depot has a great collection of bath towels, and I bought these soft cotton bath towels from the Home Builders Collection. Very soft!
The bathroom makeover was better than I expected. We are still waiting for the bathroom door but the rest is done. I am thrilled and excited to partner with The Home Depot on this renovation project.
