Kitchen Flooring At Home Depot – One of the most common questions I get on Instagram is about our hardwood floors from Home Depot. Where do we get them? How does it hold up? Do I like it? I try to answer these questions as often as I can in the story, but I thought it might be helpful to put all that info in one place so anyone can refer to it in the future. So here is our full review of our hardwood flooring from Home Depot!
Immediately I knew we wanted to replace the flooring for something more stylish and more durable. I really wanted a light, solid oak floor, so I set out on the arduous task of visiting every flooring store within a 45 mile radius. I got so many samples, but none of them match what I want. Then on a whim, I decided to check out the floor at Home Depot. To my surprise, they had exactly what I wanted: a light oak, solid hardwood, distressed texture, with a matte finish. It is called Malibu Wide Plank French Oak Point Reyes Solid Hardwood Floor.

After removing the carpet and laminate floors, we hired a contractor to install the hardwood floors from Home Depot. We ordered everything online and it took about 2 weeks for delivery. But because this floor is prefinished, there’s no staining or sanding involved. So the installation process only took about 3 days and then we were able to move on right away.

We have lived with this floor for six months now and I can honestly say I LOVE it. I’m very happy with it and so grateful we decided to get it installed right away, before we moved out. It’s amazing and it’s literally my dream floor. So far, no problems with the scratches. No dents. There isn’t anything. And that says a lot because I move furniture all the time. Plus we have three children. But this item is very durable. It’s finished with seven layers of ultra-low-gloss urethane coating with aluminum oxide, so this floor is made to last.
When we remove the old floor, we have to decide whether we want to remove the baseboards. That’s usually done when installing a new floor, but it can cost a lot of extra money and time. So we installed this floor
Plinth in place. The floor goes up to the baseboard, then we use a quarter turn to finish it off and cover up any existing gaps. What a great trick to save money and time on installing new baseboards!

I actually saw those reviews before we bought the flooring, but I don’t feel that way at all. In my opinion the knots look very authentic and I love how they add dimension to the floor.

I use a cordless vacuum cleaner for dust and crumbs. Then we clean the floor with Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner and this hardwood floor mop.

Absolutely not. I even dropped some super heavy stuff on the floor and it didn’t do any damage. I’m honestly amazed by the durability of this floor!

Lifeproof Padrutt Oak in the cellar looks AMAZING! It completely transforms the entire dungeon – it feels much bigger and more open. Even kitchens look completely different with lighter floors – I love them! It no longer felt like a dark basement and actually felt like the rest of our home. I can’t wait to finish decorating and make so many memories here with the girls for years to come.
For the basement, I want to make 1 room in a herringbone pattern.
