I’ve tried to answer these questions as often as possible in the stories, but I thought it would be helpful to put this information in one place so anyone can refer to it in the future. I knew right away that we wanted to change the flooring to suit our style and something more durable. I really wanted a light oak, hardwood floor, so I began the difficult task of visiting every flooring store in a 45 mile radius. I got so many samples but nothing fit what I wanted. Then, on a whim, I decided to check out the flooring at Home Depot. To my surprise, they had exactly what I wanted: light oak, solid hardwood, distressed texture, with a matte finish. It’s called Malibu Wide Plank French Oak Point Reyes Hardwood Flooring.

After removing the carpet and laminate flooring, we hired a contractor to install hardwood floors from Home Depot. We ordered it all online and it took about 2 weeks for delivery. But because this floor is pre-made, there was no painting or sanding involved. So the installation process only took 3 days in total and we were able to move right away.

We have been living on this floor for six months now and I can honestly say that I love it. I am very happy with it and am very thankful that we decided to install it right away before we ever moved. It was incredible and this is definitely my dream floor. So far there have been no problems with it being scratched. No scratch. nothing. And that’s saying a lot because I move furniture all the time. Plus we have three children. But this thing is super durable. It’s finished with seven coats of ultra-low gloss urethane finish with aluminum oxide, so these floors are made to LAST.
When we removed the old floors, we had to decide if we wanted to remove the baseboards. This is usually what is done when installing a new floor, but it will cost us a lot of extra money and time. So we installed this floor
Boards on the ground. The floor went up to the baseboard, then we used a quarter round to finish it off and cover any gaps. This is a great trick to save money and time installing new boards!

I actually saw this review before we bought the floor, but I don’t feel that way at all. I think the knots are super authentic and I love how they add dimension to the floor.
We installed this floor in our electric bath and it is working great so far! no problem.

I use my cordless vacuum for dust and debris. Then we clean the floor with Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner and this hardwood floor cleaner.
