One of the most surprising benefits of the epidemic is the rise of urban gardening. In several areas, panic buying, which led to long lines and empty supermarket shelves, paved the way for alternative food sources. In doing so, the community quarantine has encouraged more city dwellers to take up backyard gardening, potentially providing a lasting boost to urban agriculture.

I have been planting vegetables in our yard since October and I can say that it was really good for us, because the prices of vegetables in the market during that time, until now, I think, are expensive. And then, this semester we are required to plant vegetables or make a work of art using materials that are collected from landfills and the side. So I chose to plant vegetables because I really love to plant. And here is my plan of action. Gardening is good for many things. It can be good for our health, your soil and our garden wildlife. It’s a way to relieve stress, set goals, and care about something. Plus, growing our own produce is a great way to make our home more sustainable and reduce our impact on the environment. A garden is a great place to experience nature as well as teach us to use our yards to grow vegetables and crops.
Last November 16, 2021, I started my initiatives by having a garden in our area. Our garden is not very small, but we only have a small vegetable crop so far. I clean the area, water the plants, cultivate the soil. In the first pictures, I cultivated the plants on day one, which are an important part of farming and horticulture, helping plants grow. I also make sure the soil is free of weeds and has good drainage to avoid suffocation and rotting of the plants.
Tillage destroys the topsoil, allowing air, nutrients and water to penetrate deep into the soil where plant roots can access them. By doing so, he may also sprout some weed seeds on the surface of the soil, but cultivation also increases.
And exposes the shoots of these young weeds and dies if they remain on the surface of the soil. It can also actively inhibit germination. For me, when tilling the soil, the soil can loosen just a few centimeters. Cultivating too deeply will only help the surface dry out faster. During cultivation, care should be taken not to disturb the roots of the plant. This can damage the plant and for me don’t get too close to our plant as it grows between the rows and avoids damaging the roots and attached plants.
What Is Urban Gardening?
Also, last November 18, 2021, I checked on the plants and also did some random things like watering the plants, cleaning the place, and tilling the soil. It is good to always check the crop to see how it is improving each day and also what needs to be done next. In the second picture, I watered the plants because this will help the plants by transferring important nutrients through them. Nutrients are removed from the soil and used by plants. By watering your plants, you will avoid water shortage or drought at some point. This is important to keep our plants growing healthy.
One of the best ways to use our time during this pandemic is to have our own garden. We can make ourselves efficient so that we can help not only ourselves but also our family. By doing backyard gardening, we can get food from it or sell the vegetables we harvest. We don’t have to go to the grocery store or farmer’s market to find them because the home garden has immediate access to fresh produce. Apart from that, it can make our life healthier, which is free from stress and worries, and it will also make our life more vibrant. For the eleventh day of vegetable gardening on January 4, 2022, watering the plants, cleaning the area and cultivating the area. soil are the usual things I usually do to care for our vegetable plants. By following these steps, it can help our vegetables grow healthy and harvest more. As you can see in the pictures, the eggplants are now bigger and healthier, along with the bitter gourd, beans and camot. We also picked from snap beans, camote tops and bitter gourd. So as a result it helps us to have fresh,
Produced vegetables to be cooked directly in our kitchen. There is so much more to improve in our garden and that is to keep it healthy every day because after all we are the ones benefiting from it.
For the twelfth day of vegetable gardening on January 6, 2021, we can see a lot of improvements in our garden. Vegetables are healthy, bright, vibrant in color. We also planted cucumbers before and now we have picked and eaten them. It’s a good thing because you have your vegetable garden to have food to eat.

Monggo”, from bitter gourd leaves. It’s great because we benefit from these vegetables and that’s having food to eat. For the ninth day of vegetable gardening on December 14, 2021, I’m doing things like watering the plants, weeding the area, and tilling the soil. By following these steps, it can help our gardens, especially our vegetables, grow healthily. It is important to check our vegetables because they give us food to eat.
There are many benefits that we can get from vegetables. Some of them improve digestive health. Vegetables are an excellent source of fiber, a type of carbohydrate that helps move food through the digestive system. Next is lowering blood pressure. Many leafy greens, such as kale, spinach, and chard, contain potassium. Potassium helps the kidneys filter sodium from the body more efficiently and can lower blood pressure.

Moreover, vegetables help us reduce the risk of heart diseases. Leafy greens also contain vitamin K, which is thought to prevent calcium from building up in the arteries. This reduces the risk of arterial damage and prevents many future heart health complications. Apart from this, it also helps us in diabetes control and nutrition.
Having vegetables in our backyard is good for our health and these vegetables contain healthy vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber, so for us to keep busy with something that can make us productive.
On the tenth day of vegetable gardening, I started moving the eggplants to keep them growing healthy. If you grow eggplant seeds instead of gardening, the seeds will last for about four years. It is most common to sow the seeds indoors. However, if you live in a very hot and humid area,

You can plant eggplant seeds in your garden. Eggplant seedlings are ready for transplanting in 6-8 weeks. Gradually lower the ambient temperature and gently harden off the seedlings while watering. Wait until the weather is calm, there is no danger of frost, and the soil is warm before transplanting. Cold temperatures weaken plants and frost kills them. Gardening is really important not just for you, but for everyone, the environment and also your community. It’s a way for someone to be productive and use their yards for f
resh vegetables. During the second week of vegetable gardening, last November 22, 2021, I do the same things like watering the plants, cleaning the area, and tilling the soil. In addition, we can see how our garden is improving as the vegetables grow healthy and well.
Our garden is really improving with lots of vegetables growing like bitter gourd, camote tops, squash, beans and taro. As you can see in the pictures, the vegetables are in great shape and a good sign to continue gardening, making our garden more vibrant than last week. Also, I put up some trellis for the pala pala bitter gourd to support its vine and
