This month I shared two of my favorite resources on Instagram stories, and since then I’ve been getting messages asking for more resources or links to books I recommend. I thought it was time to round up my favorite books and home resources on home improvement, architecture and design. If you missed my favorite inspirational interior design books, you can find them here! Otherwise, click through to discover some new resources that Emmett and I use and love when it comes to remodeling, interior design, and home projects…

I’m always trying to make the blog an educational design resource, so when messages come in for book requests, I’m happy to share some tried and true favorites from our collection!

Click directly on the books in the collage to be directed to the source, or use the numbered links below to shop…

01: Basics of Sustainable Spaces // 02: Interior Design Guidelines // 03: Field Guide to American Homes

// 04: Residential Interior Design: A Guide to Space Planning // 05: Renovating Old Homes // 06: Fix Your Home // 07: A Field Guide to American Homes

// 08: Elements of Style // 09: The Timeless Way to Build // 10: The Home Repair and Improvement Guide // 11: The Ultimate Plumbing Guide // 12: The Ultimate Wiring Guide

Book twice… because so many of you have messaged me asking why I have an old copy and which edition is better. I got my copy in design school and never got the updated version. The old version is nice, but I’d probably encourage you to buy the updated version because it’s more modern and expanded – aesthetically better. As for the last three books in the roundup, the home improvement guides… were gifted to us by Emmett’s parents after we bought our first house.

. While YouTube is an awesome and convenient resource, there’s something about having a book lying flat next to you when tackling a project

Home Improvement And Interior Design Tricks

Whether you’re looking for millwork, architectural, or technical advice when it comes to remodeling your home, these books all cover some great topics and would be great resources to add to your archive. I feel like I’ve shared a lot of books in the last year. I will link all the book posts below:

Are there any other books you’d like me to cover? Maybe on a specific topic or maybe for style on the coffee table for conversation? I would like to buy some plants, gardening and landscaping books this spring. Or if you’re not into book collecting, that’s fine too! I hope you’ve had a great week so far. It is possible if you know what to look for to update your home without hiring. Before you start your DIY home improvement project, check out these beginner-friendly books to make sure you get it right from the start.
