Allen began his career in comedy. He did so well that ABC executives offered him two sitcoms, but he turned them down. Eventually, he began working with producer Matt Williams – who turned “Roseanne” into a success – to create a sitcom around Allen, a simple man who loves construction.

“I had never heard of Tim, and I didn’t know anything about it, and they sent me a tape of Tim, and I said, ‘Look, I’m raising twins. You have to wait for me for 40 minutes. I’m doing that.’ And they said, ‘Oh, what are we going to do,'” Richardson told HuffPost Live in 2014.
Richardson has appeared in guest roles over the past two decades on shows like “The West Wing,” “The Blindspot,” and even Allen’s “Last Man Standing.”
