Home Vinyl Flooring Reviews – Thank you for your help in choosing the best vinyl plank flooring for our home. After lots and lots (and lots) of thinking, we finally decided to warm up the house a little with the Provenza MaxCore Waterproof LVP in my color. It’s finally installed and I’m so excited to show it to you. It has made a huge difference in our home, and I hope you enjoy this Provenza vinyl flooring review. To see a video of what the house looks like, check out my post on How to Clean Vinyl Plank Flooring. No more messy floors and awkward transitions! Just to give you a little reminder, this is what my entryway looked like before. As soon as you walked in the front door, you were greeted by a large, ugly carpeted staircase.

A little paint and new vinyl flooring made such a big impression. My photos don’t even do the flooring justice, it’s so beautiful! When the contractor’s helpers showed up, one of them remarked, “Oh, I didn’t know we were installing hardwood today.” He was shocked to find out that it was vinyl, and kept talking about how good quality it was.

We went back and forth on what to do with that bottom step and landing. To save on costs (and to keep my kids from hurting themselves on the stairs), we knew we wanted carpet for most of the steps. I wasn’t sure if it would look funny to just put vinyl on that bottom, but I like how it turned out. It looks great, and I know it’s going to stay a lot cleaner that way.

My contractor suggested angled corners instead of square to prevent children from getting hurt on sharp corners. It was definitely a good call.

One of the best things about Provenza MaxCore Waterproof LVP is that you can use it in any room. Since it’s waterproof, I don’t have to worry about it getting ruined in the bathroom. It is much easier to install than tile, which also helps reduce installation costs. I still need to get a new vanity top here, but that’s a project for another day.

My kids can spread as much as they want, my dishwasher can leak, and I know my Provenza Maxcor Waterproof LVP flooring will be just fine!

My whole house looks so much bigger and brighter with a solid flooring, and I’m so happy with the choice we made.

My walls are Sherwin Williams Repose Gray at 50% strength (meaning they only add half the color to the mix) and all my white is Sherwin Williams Pure White.

We had someone come in to demo it because the entire floor wasn’t tile, so it had to be a different height where the carpet and wood were.

They still look beautiful! Not a scratch on them, and we put more upstairs in our master bathroom. 🙂

What rug do you have? I’m not sure what to do once the provenza floor is installed as all my rubber backed rugs have to go according to warranty information.

I now buy rugs without backing and try to find pads that won’t interact with the vinyl. I think I was able to find one on Bed Bath and Beyond online, but I can’t remember which one it was. For a piece: Toxic Tiles: How Vinyl Flooring Made With Uyghur Forced Labor Ends Up At Big Box Stores. Although the lifeproof style I established does not seem to be directly related to the findings in the article, I recommend reading the piece before deciding what type of vinyl plank flooring to use. . I was not privy to any of the research for this piece and was only interviewed for my reaction to the results. Shopping ethically in the late stages of capitalism is definitely a challenge.

A little over a year ago I shared a detailed post reviewing 10 vinyl plank flooring brands we considered for our home. If you’re considering luxury vinyl plank flooring—whether DIY or from a professional contractor—check out the post.

I did an absurd amount of research. We ultimately decided to go with Lifeproof Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring in Sterling Oak. It’s a gorgeous grey-brown color which was exactly what I was going for.

I shared a post with 10 tips for DIY LifeProof luxury vinyl plank flooring installation, including the finished product. They turned out great, and I was really proud of the project!

How To Choose The Best Flooring For Dogs

We were immediately pleased with the change from gross carpet to vinyl flooring. It looked sticky and seemed like it would be easy to keep clean. But we wondered how it would hold up.

And I’ve gotten a lot of emails over the last year from people asking if we’re still happy with the floors. So I decided to do a follow-up post after 1 year (actually about 1 year and a few months, but who’s counting).

Well, I won’t leave you hanging. We are still very happy with our flooring choice. I’ve actually said to Mike several times, “I can’t believe what a great decision that was.” but why? What’s so great about choosing lifeproof vinyl plank flooring? There are three main reasons for us.

Honestly, why would you choose anything that doesn’t look good? It’s the trifecta—you want something durable and easy to maintain, but you also want it to look good. I love all the different colors offered and I am very happy with Sterling Oak.

Things You Need To Know Before Buying Vinyl Flooring

It is a nice mix of gray and brown. Grain patterns and color combinations are also looking very stylish. I love the upgraded look it gives the room.

It was also easy to install. This was my first time installing flooring myself, and I could handle it. It will be a breeze for someone with no experience installing flooring. And it will definitely be a breeze for a professional contractor!

What else is there to say? It hasn’t shown much – if any – wear. I actually got down to scraping on my hands and knees before writing this post. One of the great things about this flooring is that the grain patterns hide scratches and imperfections well (if they are there).

We have brown engineered hardwoods in the hallway and upstairs, and they have lots of visible signs of wear. Bites and scratches abound! This is disappointing.

Types Of Vinyl Flooring And How To Choose One

So we’re happy with how these look after a year. I can’t speak to whether or not dogs scratch floors because we don’t have one. But we have floors in a heavily trafficked room and we have two cats and a baby.

We were also a bit concerned about our Murphy bed creating a depression in the floor around the base of the bed. (Btw, you can check out our DIY Murphy Bed post if you’re interested.) It’s anchored to the wall using leg bolts, which transfers some of the weight, but it’s still pretty heavy. .

Despite this, we haven’t noticed any indentation around the base. So I honestly find it hard to believe that a sofa would make an indentation
like some of the negative reviews say!

I was also concerned about any potential buckling or warping from changing seasons. For example, in the summer I was concerned about moisture leading to the floors expanding and buckling.

This shouldn’t be a problem if you leave enough room around the edges of the room as mentioned, but I was still mad! I too was worried about shrinking in the winter.

Nothing like that happened. The floors are laid on a concrete slab, and we didn’t notice any changes throughout the season. Even in the very humid Maryland summer. Oh! However, there is one place I want to point out.
